UU Community Outreach Groups & Activities
Besides many social justice activities, UUCB has groups and activities geared toward reaching out into the broader UU community, as detailed below. To participate, contact the appropriate person listed in the church newsletter for that group or activity:
- BCUUPs — The Boulder Chapter of the Covenant of Unitarian Universalist Pagans is no longer active at this time. For Wiccan and other Pagan information, as well as the celebration of full moons and sabbats, contact Steve Storm at 303-404-9407.
- Chalice Lighters — Provide funds to help other UU congregations cross a major threshold towards growth regarding a specific church goal. Four calls for help are made to chalice lighters each year, who are asked to contribute at least $10 for each call. All money raised goes for the designated purpose of the call.
- PRISM (Progressive Radically Inclusive Student Ministry) — UU and progressive Christian churches join forces to sponsor PRISM, a unique multifaith student group at the University of Colorado in Boulder, dedicated to inclusive community, progressive spirituality, and social justice. UUCB members serve on the board of the sponsoring organization (United Ministries in Higher Education), provide occasional meals, and give financial support to grow the UU presence at CU.
- UU Affairs — Open to those who want to participate more fully in the wider UU community. Our congregation is active as a member of the UU Association and the Mountain Desert District. Each year, many members attend the General Assembly of the UUA in June, and the Annual Conference of the MDD in October. Meetings open to anyone in the congregation are announced in February and March to address UUA Social Witness proposals.
