Membership in UUCB
Membership in UUCB is open to anyone who supports the purpose of UUCB and who willingly commits to ongoing financial contributions to this church community.
To become a member, you must be 14 years of age or older and you must sign the UUCB membership book in the presence of the minister, the president, moderator, or clerk of the congregation.
Benefits — An important benefit of being a church member is that you have the right to vote on church matters at congregational meetings. Another membership benefit is a subscription to the quarterly magazine, UU World, published by the Unitarian Universalist Association of Congregations (UUA). You will also receive announcements from the UUA and the UUA's Mountain Desert District (an eight-state area that our church is part of). Yet another benefit is that you are eligible for a discounted rate to the yearly UUA General Assembly conference and various other UU camps and activities.
To remain an active member, you must continue to contribute. Members who have not made a contribution of note during a 12-month period will be contacted and asked if they want to remain as a member or change their status to “friend.” A member may resign membership at any time by writing a letter to a church officer.
