UU Children's Covenant:
We are Unitarian Universalists. This is the church of the flaming chalice. This is the church of the open mind. This is the church of the loving heart. This is the church of the helping hands. Where we share good times and bad, joys and sorrows, together.

Faith Development for Children

Using the national UU Association's professionally developed curriculum "Stories About God," children in the preschool religious education program (ages 3-5) learn about a variety of God images that are in harmony with our UU principles. Children of this age range may choose to stay in the nursery if they are more comfortable there.

RE classes for children are divided into a Primary Group (generally grades K-2) and an Upper Elementary Group (generally grades 3-5).

Children use the UUA curriculum to begin learning about the traditions and beliefs of different religions. Students also start examining the seven UU principles:

  1. We believe that every person is important.
  2. We believe that all people should be treated fairly.
  3. We believe that our churches are places where all people are accepted and where we keep learning together.
  4. We believe that each person must be free to search for what is true and right in life.
  5. We believe that everyone should have a vote about things that concern them.
  6. We believe in working for a peaceful, fair, and free world.
  7. We believe in caring for our planet Earth.

The curriculum calls for alternating between studying different world religions one year, and then studying UU principles and traditions the next year.

Note: We provide general child care during the summer months, but no formal classes.
